Daddy/Daughter Kansas Buffalo hunt

Maci has always wanted to kill a buffalo and when an item for the kids school auction was a buffalo hunt her Daddy knew he had to bid on it and try to win it for her. Sure enough he won it and she was so excited but not as much as he was to be able to give her that opportunity to experience a once in a lifetime hunt like this. It was just going to be him and her go but as the planning went along the guy informed Nick to bring the whole family there was room and just enjoy it. The little kids we on board and then off board and went back and forth until it was literally hours before we left and decided they would not be joining us.

We headed out for Kansas at 3am yes you read that right 3AM
Yikes that was early but being that it takes about 9 hours to get there Nick wanted to get on the road.

Our guide told us about this awesome BBQ place before you get to Fort Scott for lunch.
It was spot on kind of good.
I feel like when it comes to BBQ places the shakier the shack is the better.

We have arrived and waiting on out guide to let us in.

This place would be the best place to come to get away from everything.
We had no TV and the scenery just put your soul to ease.

While Maci and Nick went to target practice I changed into my jammies, made me a cup of coffee, and took it all in. Then the tiredness hit me so I went inside curled up on the couch and took a nap while being woke up to....

Momma I killed a buffalo
I pulled the covers back up and ignored them. They play to much.
Then she said louderr Momma wake up I really did I then opened my eyes did an eye roll and tried to drawn them out but Nick said look at the picture....That's when I hurried up off the couch in confusion because #1 you were going to target practice #2 you have only been gone for an 1.5 hours
I do recall me saying something to the effect of: How do you get so hunting lucky?
Remember her first deer here. 10 point

Maci shot twice the 1st hitting the target so perfect she knocked it off the second perfect again.
The guide was like why practice with perfect shots like this lets go hunt.
They had to go and find the buffalo and walk up to them then she picked one out she wanted and waiting for it to get just right, this took about 30 minutes due to them being heard animals they stay all on top on one another and when she would get a good shot she would turn the safety off and one would walk in front of it again. It was a process but finally she got it.
1 shot and that buffalo was down.

Now its time to take it to the processor.
First we had to stop by the Lodge and show everyone her perfect shot.
I think those guides were still a little in shock

Getting this huge thing unloaded can be a chore being that they weigh anywhere up to 1000 pounds.

How many men did it take? well here ya go

The processor getting it ready to be processed

The processing has begun and we had to make sure they knew we were going to have it mounted and make a rug out of the rest of the hide that way they can be careful and do it correctly.

The next morning we woke up to it snowing. It was so pretty but very cold.
Nick and Maci went to ride around and look at all the other animals on the place and while they did that I just enjoyed finishing a book.

We decided to go into town and shop at all of their junk places and have some lunch.
I am regretting not getting this pretty little thing.
I thought I have a kitchen aide so I don't need another one.

How cute is this little blanket for Spence

That night we went to the lodge to hang out and eat some fried quail, rabbit and jerky.
We played checkers, pool, I can not master the pool game I get so bored.

The next morning we woke up to these elk just grazing.

After packing up all of our things we headed to this diner for breakfast which was amazing then to processor and then home. While we were not there the whole week like we planned it was so much fun and made memories of a lifetime.

Before I leave you Maci has a joke to tell:
What did the buffalo tell his son when we left to go off to college?
Bi-son

A bison is the proper name for a buffalo so not you get it. LoL

I cant do squats or lounges without my knee hurting I've got to learn how to do a proper squat and lounge form. There has got to be some tricks to this right form stuff
Its like I cant go down enough to get my knees and toes right
All this time I was doing squats I haven't been doing them right so I'm learning form is key

two:
besides working out I have been lazy and useless this week I can't get back into my routine and its driving me crazy. I have so much to do around here. I have spent this whole week on Pinterest.

three:
tuesday I am getting my wisdom teeth out.
they have never bothered me so I have never felt the need for them to come out but I have noticed that my teeth are moving and I am not liking my teeth crowding and looking all janked up
I only have 3 wisdom teeth not 4 crazy

four:
Wal-mart got hacked and my cards were used in a fraud case. I had so many charges to walmart.com while I was in Kansas and I knew it wasn't me. So now I have had to shut off debit and credit and using checks while my cards come in. I did pray that I would stop spending so much and stay on a budget.....God you play to much real funny lol
my gym membership, onstar, and iTunes are all linked to my card automatically and with it being the first of the month I may not be able to get into the gym when I go Monday. My cards need to hurry up
Needless to say you cant buy anything online with a check or cash so its working

my granmaw whose is undergoing breast cancer treatments started loosing her hair and she is having a real hard time with that even though her wig looks exactly the same. I knew she was having a hard time and I freak over my hair as well so I can only imagine how hard it is for her. I called her to tell her I have decided to put some pink in my hair to represent her she was like you don't have to do that I will be alright but I told her I'm doing it. What a great way to get the courage to do something funky with your hair.

January Goals

A dream written down with a date becomes a goal. A goal broken down into steps becomes a plan. A plan backed by action makes your dreams come true.
1. Start a budget for 2015:
Long story short the government doesn't support farmers so therefor farmers are now making way to little to survive on while the seed, equipment, chemicals, farm diesel, and other necessities to farm price go up the crop price goes way down. This year is going to be an extremely tight one and they only way that it wouldn't changing my spending is to go back to work. As I sat down and did the pros and cons to both I decided that I would only be working to support my overly spending habit. I would also miss out on all the things I get to enjoy as a stay at home mom would not be an option anymore I couldn't make every single school function, all the day dates with my farmer, the farm office stuff I help with. So I created a budget and yes its going to be a challenge but at a great cost.
I spend way to much on clothing, shoes, and jewelry. But yet I still have nothing to wear so what's the point of forking out so much on it if at the end of the day I stand there and look and think I have nothing to wear. I think I buy because I'm like oh that's cute but then I don't really love it therefor I will not get that much wear out of it. As I was looking for a way to get myself out of this habit I came across a website or blog that had an awesome idea. You put back 20.00 a week and you can either purchase something with that or save up each week to buy what you want. You can't go over what you don't have saved for. I thought how awesome. For the month of January I will only allow myself 20.00 each week to spend on my closet habit. To start off on a stick budget my plan is to only buy what we absolutely have to have and if I have leftover room I will allow myself to $20 a week and put the rest in savings. My kids are going to go into major shock but I think it will be a great way to welcome them to the real world. While making a budget and seeing all the crap we spend money on and how much it blew my mind. How have I been so blind at all the wasteful things we have been wasting our dollar on.
For a while I have been praying for balance and to let things slow down. Each days passes in a blink of an eye and I didn't even have a moment to stop and enjoy it. I have also been praying to be more like the Proverbs 31 wife. Little did I know he had this year in store for me.

2. Start each morning with a Daily Devotion:
I tend to pick up and put down my devotionals. When I'm busy I think I'll get back at it tomorrow and if I'm busy that day then it has created a pattern. When I start my morning off right by spending time with my father I find that my day always goes smoother. Here lately he has been pulling on my heart stings more than ever and I feel and hear him loud and clear. He wants me to stay connected with him constantly. I also would slim through the devotion when I did do them but I want to really get into them and take every word into account. I want to live out what I learn.

3. Journaling:
At the end of each day I would love to take the time to write something about that day. Weather it be good or bad just a little something. I love to doodle and keep a memory of things I often find myself writing things in my notepad on my phone or a scrap piece of paper or in my bible at church another reason I need the journaling bible but I am on a budget and don't think that will happen this year I am thankful I have one and will work with what I got.

4. Make homemade Pizza:
I have had all the stuff that I bought to make homemade pizzas but never got around to it. And the truth is if I haven't made them and had the stuff on hand for ever a year why did I buy all the stuff that means I will not get use out of this. See I have a problem people. I am making it my mission to use this and not perfect it and place these into our food rotations. I think this will be a fun thing for us to do as a family.

5. Lean something new:
a new word meaning, a fun fact, a new bible verse, a new recipe, how to do something I've never done or knew how to, doesn't matter just as long as learn something new

6. More time with kids:
Last year was such I blur I hardly remember anything. I want to enjoy each and every moment with one of the most precious gifts the Lord has placed into my life. It saddens me to not be able to look back on last year and remember something awesome with my kids or that we made sure we spent at least 15/20minutes just spending quality time with each other without running to practices, doing homework, calling out test, signing papers, gripping about chores not being done, what do you want to eat, I want no distractions while spending time with them. In my Jesus Calling devotional this has stuck out the most thus far: Do not skimp on our time together, RESIST the clamor of tasks waiting to be done. You have chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away.
There are often times well to be truthful most of the time I am spending with my children my body is with them but my brain is on all of the things I need and should be doing and making lists in my head of what all I have to do but my goal is to be more like Mary and less like Martha. Luke 10:38-42

7. Get back into my workout routine:
I went to New York in October and I haven't been back to the gym since. So after 3 months of being off I am starting back. I am wanting to do Couch25k Monday, Wednesday & Friday and go to body pump on Tuesday and Thursday. I need to get back into eating right also.

12x 30 Chasing my Extraordinary in My so-called chaos challenge

12x30 Challenge

My sweet blogger friend Crystal @ Hall around Texas shared this amazing challenge and instantly I knew I had to join in. I hope many of you do too.

My failures rather than my success is what I focus on.
"I will hold myself to a standard of grace, not perfection." | Think Pink with Tadashi Shoji

Sometimes perfection can be perfect hell.
I have severs OCD. I love routine, schedule, planning, list making and perfection.
I feel that when I have routine and lists and everything is going as planned I have peace and comfort and stability but the moment 1 things is out of place I let it turn my whole world upside down and effect not only myself but with my attitude and mood it then effects the people around me.
Example: I was depotting a new blush and the hubs thought he was going to help and while I was looking for the wire cutters to get it out he thought he could take a knife and pop it out and ended up cracking it. When I walked in and saw it I lost my Shiz-nitz not a little I mean a lot like bat-shit crazy loose it. I had a toddler tantrum melt down I even hate to admit this but I was in tears. I just got this blush yesterday and "My plan" was to depot it place it into my pallet check that off the list and move on to the next thing on my list. But because I cant check this of my list because its broke and I don't do broken makeup. Cracks, crumbs, pieces falling out everywhere no I clean up enough mess I don't need another one. So therefor since I can do what I had planned on doing I can't move on. I find that if things aren't perfect then I look at them as failures and in return it ruins the rest of my day or week depending on how long I allow myself to hold onto whatever it is.
Why? Why can't I just let it be and move on. Why do I have to be perfect when I no there is not a such thing? I get all kinds of frazzled when my plan doesn't go exactly the way it should. I have so much more important things to focus on other than routine, schedule and checking things off the list so why do I let my need for perfection ruin myself.
Storm ahead....I thank the Lord for every red light that keeps me from a worse event down the road.

Conclusion:

I am going to love my self enough to "Let it be"
let it be. love the script of this tattoo and placement. maybe. since a full back tattoo is the only other tattoo I will be working on...pretty sure I'll get this one.

First year my 62lb 9yr old showed a 518lb calf and won reserve champ because the judge said his calf was soo tame and well trained :) I hope this yr is a good one too!

Instead of throwing the towel in I'm going to use it to wipe the sweat off.

Each passing year gets faster and faster and I find myself always in a hurry and when the year is over I feel as if I have missed most of it because I'm so busy trying to keep my head afloat.
You know that verse where Jesus calls us to be busy and stressed? | 31 Days Exploring Minimalism | simple living, stress
So this is my 2015 mission and goal:
5 Days of Unrushing My Schedule in Pictures -- encouragement to slow down and savor life!
Priorities

I don't want to look back on life and regretted not slowing down, or not spending as much time with my family because I'm to busy cleaning or worrying with what needs done.
I vow that what has to be done will get done but what needs to be done can wait.
Live life to the fullest like it's your last!
