H5 heads to dey Bayou

As soon as basketball ends softball starts. We had one free weekend left in between them so we loaded the kids up and headed South on down to Baton Rouge to watch LSU girls play a double header. When we woke the kids up they are so grouchy and irritable and I thought lets just stay at home I am not dealing with them all day like this but as we got on the road they turned around their moods and it was a great day to say the least.
I  know what you are thinking: How does a Bam lovin girl enjoy anything involving LSU?
Here is my answer: I was a LSU fan Saban was there and when he left I went with him but still cheering on the Tigers also and then the more I watched them the more Les Miles worked all up on my nerves child and I just couldn't take it. My heart lies with Saban. He reminds me so much of my Boo and I just roll with Saban so I am basically a no teams fan I am a Saban fan.
So there ya have it I don't dislike or hate LSU its Les that I despise.

For lunch we decided to grab something close around the campus.
It was delicious and if you are ever around I would def suggest you stopping in.
I got the Shrimp PoBoy, kids got thin fried catfish, and Nick got a chicken and bacon sandwich and for out appetizer of course we got the cheese fries.

On the beverage napkins this is what we found.
Go for those goals babygirl

We stopped by the LSU boys practice game at the Alex Box stadium

The kids climber all over Mike

We had really good seats and the weather was warm it was a perfect day for some softball

The hubs is always thrilled when taking pictures can you tell?

Crazy story I came across this girl on vine and followed her for a while not realizing that she played for LSU softball until last year when I started following her IG. I can honestly say my girl B turned me onto LSU softball. Right after that LSU came to the college in the nearest town and we went and watcher her play while Maci watched her favorite Baylee Corbello

Every time LSU would strike a player out they throw 3 t-shirts out to the crowd.

LSU won the first game and now its on to the next

The girl loving them some LSU softball.
Love seeing these sister share and create memories together.
Talking softball talk and cheering the tigers on hollering for the player and doing the Tiger cheer

Mauri Laken won the dance contest and won a prize pack.
I know her Daddy didn't know what to do be happy or worry for her future. LOL
She has always been a Longhorn fan until yesterday I think this trip may have converted her so we shall see. I mean her favorite color has always been purple.

AJ: I call her lightening because she is faster than lightening

We got to see Bianka hit it over: HOMERUN hitter and ya never going to get her so give up

Won the second game as well

The girls got their softball signed and Rhett did a poster

 Maci & Baylee Corbello
Maci was so excited to talk to her and take a picture.
She thought Maci was a pitcher but her build she just smiled and said no it was sweet

Mauri telling B you play my spot, I'm short stop too

Excited girls I think they had a blast

Every time we come through Natchez we have wanted to eat at Roux 61 but it was either closed or the wait time was out of this world long. We came through around 9:45pm and finally got to stop in.
It didn't disappoint either. I see why the wait is always long. Ah-maze-ing!

We got the cheese sticks and they were huge.
I got the Roux61 pasta and it was one of the best things I've ever put into my mouth.
The shrimp were enormous and the sauce was out of this world.

My Rhett man was glad we finally got to enjoy this place

We are already planning another trip back

Junior Varsity

Maci was asked to try out for the PVA JV softball team. Of course she said yes but I wasn't sure because she is only in the 6th grade and while I know it will be good for her but then do we already have so much to do. We talked about it and told her that her grades comes first and she knows that so if they drop then JV softball is over and she agreed so she went and tried out and made the team.
We had a few games so far and so far she has done really good and seems like to me she is gaining her confidence which we are really glad to see because we all knew she has the power but lacked the confidence. The coaches are new and a husband and wife team whom both know the game.
He set the national high school record by throwing 19 no-hitters,a record which still stands and was drafted in the second round by the Milwaukee Brewers. After 2 years he had to give it up due to shoulder injuries. She teaches pitching lessons and has her fare share of hours on the field.

She plays first and center field.
We played UCA Tuesday and while playing first base took a line drive straight into the face thank goodness she was wearing her ugly face mask because even hitting the mask it popped her jaw. So I can only imagine if she hadn't worn it. The coach makes them and I am thankful. She never told anyone or let on it hurt until after the game because she loves it so much she didn't want to have to sit out so she was fighting through the pain. It's still sore but getting better and ready for the next game.

With confidence comes hits she has been doing so good I hope I don't jinx her.

Maci had that pocket-chin down pat. Bless her heart she got her non-running from her momma. I cant run to save my life. We got it all correct and you take the candy bar out of your pocket and put it in your mouth and so it is called Pocket-chin. Now she is a beast.

As a mom I am not a fan of the hot box it makes me so nervous

Here is a small clip of Maci making an out with the help of her team mates.
They are a great group of girls.

Game 4

Game 4
It worked out that the winner of this game would get to advance to go to State
Our girls could win this if the played hard like they have been.
I was worried about the heat and with it being right at 5 o'clock the sun was beaming.

It was a good game and the score was 0-1 them until the 4th inning and we came back and scored 2 making it 2-1 us. Would of been 3-1 but the ump made a terrible call.
Then the 5th inning:
We needed to make some more runs, they had last bat.
We had 2 outs and it was Mauri's turn to bat and all I kept thinking was omg all this pressure of little tiny her. She fouled the first one way down behind third base. Ok Mauri you have got this just straighten it out baby. The next one bad pitch, good eye baby girl. There it was a dang good hit but in the air and I remember thinking don't catch it don't catch it.....OUT she caught it.
Their time to bat and if we hold them we got this.
There was a girl on second base and he had 1 out. the next girl up to bat knocked it out to left field and it was like our girls couldn't get it in. So with tears our girls came running in but nothing to cry about, they played a dang good game and they played hard this whole week.

I will have to say we couldn't have done it or had fun with it without these Coaches.
They put in so much time and dedication teaching these girls the right techniques and fundamentals.

Mauri Laken with her All Star medal

All in all I will have to say Mauri has learned and took away so such in such a short period of time.
In three 2 1/2 weeks... 2 weeks of practice and 1/2 week playing she has learned and played Catcher, her batting has improved and she is learning how to wait on it. I see in some of the pictures her arms are perfect. She has also learned that these big girls she played against in city ball isn't so scary but friendly and fun to be around. She was so intimidated the first few days of practice being a runt and playing against them is was different than playing together. I've tried to tell her that but now she sees. While they are all moving up next year she will still be in this Darlings she will always have these memories.  I didn't want to do this and was griping about how it was taken over my summer I'm glad we did.
Now she is saying I'm ready for PVA school ball while my ADD self is saying we need a little break.
