How I do it: Marriage

Let me first start off by saying that what works for one couple will not work for every couple because I believe that each of our love language is not the same. We do not all want the same thing out of our marriages. This is how it works for us. I know you are going to feel differently and what works for you may not work for us. That's why it is called How I do it

I'm going begin with what I want out of my marriage:

Man of God- I knew I had to have a man who loved the Lord and who had the same beliefs that I had. Who took his family to church and made sure that it was a priority that the family we will have will be raised in church.

Partner in Crime- someone who I can have fun with and even though I make a decision and it may not be the best one they have my back and support me no matter what, share inside jokes with, know things about each other that only the two of us know, experience things together and be able to share the same joy experiencing it, be able to confide in them and at the end of the day when there is nothing going on or no one is around we can still enjoy each other. We have these certain looks or signals that we do when we are around people that means certain things so if you are ever around us and may see one of us make a face or an awkward movement and the other crack a smile or bust out in laughter this is why.

Lover- nope not going there so get out of the gutter One of my love languages is affection so this is very important to me. I need from my lover physical touch with out intimacy. By this I mean that I need sweet little kisses, hold my hand {we have our own hand holding thing we do I don't know why or how it got started but its our thing...I started to share how we do it but then I deleted it because that's our thing, Cuddle  and snuggle with me, I don't know why but my favorite is his hand in the small of my back. {He knows this and when he wants to be really sweet or wants something it gets me every time.

Baby Daddy- I knew that when I had kids I wanted them to have a Father who just didn't provide for them but someone they could look up to and who was active in their lives. I wanted the father of my kids to be able to share the responsibilities with me when able. By able I mean when he is not at work I'm not going to call him out of the field to tell him it is his turn to change the diaper. For him to be able to watch the kids all by himself and go and take them places by himself. I wanted someone for them that if I wasn't there I wouldn't have to worry if the kids were taken care of. If I had girls I wanted them to be Daddy's girls and if I had boys I wanted them to be just like their Daddy. I can leave the kids with him while I'm gone and I seriously do not have to worry. I hear so many wives talk about their husband who will not change a diaper or do not feel comfortable leaving their kids. I have to admit I hit the jackpot.

Communicator- This is a hard one because we communicate way to much and I'm sure most would say TMI. We are both very honest with each regardless if it hurts the others feelings or not. A shallow example of this: While in Sams Club we walked by this crockpot and I mention how neat it was that it had dividers and Christmas rolled around and well what do you know one of my presents was that crockpot. I had to tell him while I thought it was neat didn't mean I wanted it and he thought by me saying it was neat it was a hint I wanted it so after letting him know I will not ever have to risk getting a bad Christmas present again. See if I had never told him who knows how many bad gifts I would have gotten in the last 14 years. Now I have an Amazon wish list and it is a joke he will never get me anything for the kitchen for Christmas again so he ignores all the kitchen stuff on my list. That is an example of how honest we are and how it has helped not to make the same mistake twice. lol

Compromise- To compromise is to make a deal between different parties where each party gives up part of their demand. In arguments, compromise is a concept of finding agreement through communication, through a mutual acceptance of terms—often involving variations from an original goal or desire.
This is another major key in our marriage due to us being 2 different and have different like and or needs. Their are certain things I know Nick wants, needs, desires I might not feel the same way about and vice versa but we try to go out of our way to share that moment with them even though we might not share the same passion.

Time- we fully believe that in order to have a successful happy marriage that works this is the most important one. We see a lot of couples who hardly ever together and when they have free time it is not spent with their spouse and think this is why you are married and living together as roommates and not as one. However I am not saying we think that you need to spend all you time with each other we feel you need your own time and space but when you spend more time apart then together that is when we feel the problems come in. We do get a lot of slack about us being together but honestly we do enjoy being together and doing things together we would rather be with each other most of the time. I think this is why Miranda and Blake didn't work you cant have a marriage and only spend a month together in a year. Where is the connection?

Time Out- when you have kids and life is busy its a must you take time out of your day or week to get that one on one time, don't feel guilty if you make your kids go to bed early or drop them off with a babysitter you and your spouse need this time. Nick and I take at least 2 trips no kids just him and I. The kid try and make us feel guilty but it doesn't work we tell them we haul them all over through the year so this is our time to recharge. Even though the cow sale every March is one of those trips and work is involved we still make it fun and enjoy the 2 of us. So take it however you can get it. Even if it is a weekend at home without the kids anything is better than nothing.

Nick and I have both talked while doing this post and we all agreed  on these things and that's another things you both have to know what the other one wants out of a marriage and both be on the same page.

Although we love each ether and enjoy being with one another we also talk about how when he gets on my last nerve I want to take the back hoe and burying him. Or run the other one over. Our marriage is far from perfect

H5 heads to dey Bayou

As soon as basketball ends softball starts. We had one free weekend left in between them so we loaded the kids up and headed South on down to Baton Rouge to watch LSU girls play a double header. When we woke the kids up they are so grouchy and irritable and I thought lets just stay at home I am not dealing with them all day like this but as we got on the road they turned around their moods and it was a great day to say the least.
I  know what you are thinking: How does a Bam lovin girl enjoy anything involving LSU?
Here is my answer: I was a LSU fan Saban was there and when he left I went with him but still cheering on the Tigers also and then the more I watched them the more Les Miles worked all up on my nerves child and I just couldn't take it. My heart lies with Saban. He reminds me so much of my Boo and I just roll with Saban so I am basically a no teams fan I am a Saban fan.
So there ya have it I don't dislike or hate LSU its Les that I despise.

For lunch we decided to grab something close around the campus.
It was delicious and if you are ever around I would def suggest you stopping in.
I got the Shrimp PoBoy, kids got thin fried catfish, and Nick got a chicken and bacon sandwich and for out appetizer of course we got the cheese fries.

On the beverage napkins this is what we found.
Go for those goals babygirl

We stopped by the LSU boys practice game at the Alex Box stadium

The kids climber all over Mike

We had really good seats and the weather was warm it was a perfect day for some softball

The hubs is always thrilled when taking pictures can you tell?

Crazy story I came across this girl on vine and followed her for a while not realizing that she played for LSU softball until last year when I started following her IG. I can honestly say my girl B turned me onto LSU softball. Right after that LSU came to the college in the nearest town and we went and watcher her play while Maci watched her favorite Baylee Corbello

Every time LSU would strike a player out they throw 3 t-shirts out to the crowd.

LSU won the first game and now its on to the next

The girl loving them some LSU softball.
Love seeing these sister share and create memories together.
Talking softball talk and cheering the tigers on hollering for the player and doing the Tiger cheer

Mauri Laken won the dance contest and won a prize pack.
I know her Daddy didn't know what to do be happy or worry for her future. LOL
She has always been a Longhorn fan until yesterday I think this trip may have converted her so we shall see. I mean her favorite color has always been purple.

AJ: I call her lightening because she is faster than lightening

We got to see Bianka hit it over: HOMERUN hitter and ya never going to get her so give up

Won the second game as well

The girls got their softball signed and Rhett did a poster

 Maci & Baylee Corbello
Maci was so excited to talk to her and take a picture.
She thought Maci was a pitcher but her build she just smiled and said no it was sweet

Mauri telling B you play my spot, I'm short stop too

Excited girls I think they had a blast

Every time we come through Natchez we have wanted to eat at Roux 61 but it was either closed or the wait time was out of this world long. We came through around 9:45pm and finally got to stop in.
It didn't disappoint either. I see why the wait is always long. Ah-maze-ing!

We got the cheese sticks and they were huge.
I got the Roux61 pasta and it was one of the best things I've ever put into my mouth.
The shrimp were enormous and the sauce was out of this world.

My Rhett man was glad we finally got to enjoy this place

We are already planning another trip back

Daddy/Daughter Kansas Buffalo hunt

Maci has always wanted to kill a buffalo and when an item for the kids school auction was a buffalo hunt her Daddy knew he had to bid on it and try to win it for her. Sure enough he won it and she was so excited but not as much as he was to be able to give her that opportunity to experience a once in a lifetime hunt like this. It was just going to be him and her go but as the planning went along the guy informed Nick to bring the whole family there was room and just enjoy it. The little kids we on board and then off board and went back and forth until it was literally hours before we left and decided they would not be joining us.

We headed out for Kansas at 3am yes you read that right 3AM
Yikes that was early but being that it takes about 9 hours to get there Nick wanted to get on the road.

Our guide told us about this awesome BBQ place before you get to Fort Scott for lunch.
It was spot on kind of good.
I feel like when it comes to BBQ places the shakier the shack is the better.

We have arrived and waiting on out guide to let us in.

This place would be the best place to come to get away from everything.
We had no TV and the scenery just put your soul to ease.

While Maci and Nick went to target practice I changed into my jammies, made me a cup of coffee, and took it all in. Then the tiredness hit me so I went inside curled up on the couch and took a nap while being woke up to....

Momma I killed a buffalo
I pulled the covers back up and ignored them. They play to much.
Then she said louderr Momma wake up I really did I then opened my eyes did an eye roll and tried to drawn them out but Nick said look at the picture....That's when I hurried up off the couch in confusion because #1 you were going to target practice #2 you have only been gone for an 1.5 hours
I do recall me saying something to the effect of: How do you get so hunting lucky?
Remember her first deer here. 10 point

Maci shot twice the 1st hitting the target so perfect she knocked it off the second perfect again.
The guide was like why practice with perfect shots like this lets go hunt.
They had to go and find the buffalo and walk up to them then she picked one out she wanted and waiting for it to get just right, this took about 30 minutes due to them being heard animals they stay all on top on one another and when she would get a good shot she would turn the safety off and one would walk in front of it again. It was a process but finally she got it.
1 shot and that buffalo was down.

Now its time to take it to the processor.
First we had to stop by the Lodge and show everyone her perfect shot.
I think those guides were still a little in shock

Getting this huge thing unloaded can be a chore being that they weigh anywhere up to 1000 pounds.

How many men did it take? well here ya go

The processor getting it ready to be processed

The processing has begun and we had to make sure they knew we were going to have it mounted and make a rug out of the rest of the hide that way they can be careful and do it correctly.

The next morning we woke up to it snowing. It was so pretty but very cold.
Nick and Maci went to ride around and look at all the other animals on the place and while they did that I just enjoyed finishing a book.

We decided to go into town and shop at all of their junk places and have some lunch.
I am regretting not getting this pretty little thing.
I thought I have a kitchen aide so I don't need another one.

How cute is this little blanket for Spence

That night we went to the lodge to hang out and eat some fried quail, rabbit and jerky.
We played checkers, pool, I can not master the pool game I get so bored.

The next morning we woke up to these elk just grazing.

After packing up all of our things we headed to this diner for breakfast which was amazing then to processor and then home. While we were not there the whole week like we planned it was so much fun and made memories of a lifetime.

Before I leave you Maci has a joke to tell:
What did the buffalo tell his son when we left to go off to college?
Bi-son

A bison is the proper name for a buffalo so not you get it. LoL
