Breast Cancer & Babies

Please check out my new page on Facebook called Damsels N Distress also my BLOG at damselsndistress.... Just getting started but you're invited to follow my along my journey.
October 20th was the day I got the call from my Mom......
My Nana had a mammogram and the doctor called to ask that she come in for the results. As we all know when the doctor calls you personally and wants you to come in that means it isn't good new you will be receiving. My parents live in Shreveport and my Mom couldn't make it to the doctor in time so she called me to see if I would go. My brothers wife, Nana, and I met with the doctor to tell us that she had breast cancer and she would be need to see Dr Barr and go from there.
After meeting with Dr Barr he insisted that she undergo a mastectomy and remove the tumor and also check the lymph node and if the first one had cancer in it then remove the rest of the nodes under the arm and send them off to be tested. We hoped for it not to be in the nodes but after the surgery the doctor met with us and it was in the node so he sent 15 of them to be tested. We had to wait 72 hours before we got these results back and out of 15 nodes 8 of them had cancer. We knew there would be treatment involved since it is in the nodes but had to meet with Dr Barr to determine the next step.
We met with Dr. Barr and discussed the results of the pathology report and we received some very good news. Her cancer is estrogen positive. That's the news we were hoping for! We will meet with an oncologists on the 20th of November to discuss treatment. We know most of the treatment can be treated with hormones but aren't sure if he is going to want to do some chemo or not.
My family and I appreciate each prayer and kind word we believe this kept our heads up and positive thoughts.

For more exciting news.......while I am not allowed to have more babies due to me being a bad pregnancy person. With all 3 I didn't have a good one and with Rhett the farmer said he almost lost his wife and son all in one and that's when he knew he was done with having kids. I've tried to talk him into adoption but until I get him on board we are going to have to go with the next best thing...our farm babies. Its baby dropping time on the farm.
Here are a few:

In 7 days......

In 7 days  I my Nana {Moms Mom} went for a mammogram, met with the doctor and found out she had breast cancer, then met with an oncologist to decide what the next step was, and now having a mastectomy. This is what my life has been and changed in the last 7 days. Please say a prayer that the surgery and testing while in surgery comes back good. I will go into more detail this week when I get a chance to sit down and write everything out.
Breast Cancer isn't something that runs in our family so this is a bit of a shock, especially after loosing her husband and son to cancer. Her and my mom is all that is left. Its surgery day and I pray that everything goes better than expected and I have good news to report.
