Intermural Awards and Sports Banquet

1 post...2 different awards days.

After the little kids last basketball game they give out their awards.
It has been so much fun watching them play and learn the game of basketball.

Rhett receiving his award from his Coach for Intermural Basketball.
He had 2 of the best Coaches. They were fun and taught the kids a lot of basketball fundamentals

Mauri receiving her award from Coach Chad.
We love Coach Chad he has been Maci's peewee coach since she started peewee sports and without him there would be no peewee sports. He does so much for our peewee sports and love my little ones are getting to enjoy him as well. We appreciate everything he does and his dedication to these kids!

PeeWee Sports Banquet

PeeWee is normally 3rd-6th grade but since they needed a few more girls to make and 3rd & 4th grade team they asked the 2nd graders to play and Mauri jumped right on in. Mr Kevin, Mr. Nelson,
and Mr. Randal has taught her so much and turned a team of never before players into ballers who all most won the Championship. I only hope they keep on Coaching.

Mauri got a special award for most improved.

Maci receiving her medalfor Cheerleading
How is it that she looks so grown up in this picture? Where did my Tomboy looking little girl go?

Maci receiving a special award for Defensive MVP
It was so funny how Coach Chad did it, he always calls her a beast and jokes with her about football. He said with all of the fouls and fouling outs....lol

The Family showing our girls how proud we are of them
Please excuse Rhett,
he was in a mood and therefor this was not a battle I chose to fight
so he picked out his clothes and certainly his attitude.

I couldn't forget our PeeWee basketball boys
They have been so much fun to watch and have won the Championship 3x in a row...3-peat
They all got rings and was cute watching them receive them.

I love the small school and how everyone is so close. Everyone knows everyone and for the most part everyone gets along. There is a bond here that cant be broken and I cant wait to see all of these PeeWee sport players thrive and grow

Mothers Day 2014

Happy Mothers Day

For Mothers Day weekend, yes weekend because we all know 1 day isn't enough.
Saturday night we went to Ronin Hibachi for some Fireball Sushi and hibachi chicken, steak, and shrimp. It was delicious. I couldn't get Mauri Laken to even try sushi. I try every time

The lighting wasn't great but we still tried to get pictures.
My whole crew isn't fond of pictures these days, it like I'm asking for a kidney or something.
But with it being MOTHERS day I had a little bit of leverage

Rhett thought he was being funny by making crazy faces

When we arrive home Saturday night this is what I walked into.
I mean don't tease me, I just cant take it!
I had to open it right away
The kids made all the homemade gifts at school.
Those are far more special than any material gift.
I keep every single one every single year.

I keep an Amazon wish list and I have over 350 things on there so that means there is plenty to choose from. If you don't have one I encourage you to make one and also have your kids make one too. It is so easy when buying gifts, it takes the guessing out of it. This iRobot was definitely on my list and has been on there for a while so I was totally stoked when I opened it.
I cant wait to get it charged and started.

Sunday morning we went to church.
After church we went and ate and was going to go watch a movie but being it was such a pretty day we decided to stop by Orange Leaf for dessert and then head home and lounge by the pool.

The kids got into the water but it was still way to cold for the Hubbs and I.
I just worked on my tan

The Hubbs served us up some drinks

Without this man I wouldn't even be able to celebrate Mothers Day.
Oh why yes I did :)
I'm not liking this whole double chin thing I've got going on in this pic
All in all I had a wonderful Mothers Day

Yes I know I'm losing my hair. Its my stupid cant get right hormones. I've also got a huge plug in the back that is missing and what isn't missing its breaking off. So that is why I have been having some crazy hair pictures. That's why it looks like I have bangs that are only 1 inch. Its so thin now and the left side in the front is broke off about an 2 inches from my scalp. I'm going in on the 15th, this Wednesday to hopefully get the right hormone compound.

How I do it:

Menu plan Grocery Shop:
I have seen a few How I do it post and I am always intrigued of how people do things. If they have helpful tips or an easier way of doing it. Therefor I have decided I would do some How I do it post from time to time.

I am OCD when it comes to organization and I am also very visual so I love having the Mega Binder Organization in my life. Monday mornings I use for my meal plan and grocery list making. That afternoon before I pick up the kids from school I will grocery shop. Then when I get home I have the kids to help with the unloading. #winning
Sunday night I try to look up a few different recipes so we can try them.
I just tired of eating the same thing or trying to think of what to cook.

On Monday morning when I get back from taking kids to school or working out I grab my coffee and get to work. I will look at this weeks calendar and see what all we have going on and what days I will need to cook and what days we will have to eat out. These days with ballgames 4 nights a week and back to back ballgames I'm not doing much cooking. When school is out I will be at home more and can cook early and be more prepared. We only have 2 more weeks and we are counting them down.

These are the meal pages out of my binder and I will take them make copies and put them into the binder. Don't ya love them I cant live without them. They are my go to for when it comes to making my life easier.

Here are a few more. They just make me happy

After I meal plan I usually then see what I have and what I need to pick up from grocery all while making a grocery list.

Here are a few printable I found on Pinterest that I use from time to time
I am also ADD so I get bored with same ole same ole so I'm always changing it up. You can take a look here for more pintable's. I use these things like a crack addict uses crack...Faithfully!

Angola Prison Rodeo

Angola Rodeo Background History:
The Angola Rodeo, the longest running prison rodeo in the nation, got its start in 1965.  The first arena was small, built by a handful of dedicated inmates and personnel.  It wasn't much in those days, and the rodeo was staged just for the entertainment of prisoners and employees.  In 1997, spectator capacity was expanded by 1000 seats and construction of a roof over the seating area began to provide increased comfort for spectators under Louisiana's blazing October sun.  Hobby craft space was also expanded to the point where it is no longer just a little concession area on the side for some inmate organizations to make a few bucks.  It is now an all-day full-blown arts and crafts festival, complete with entertainment and food galore.  The arts and crafts festival begins at 9 a.m. and continues throughout the rodeo which begins at 2 p.m. each Sunday in October.  Many fans come to the rodeo for the arts and crafts show alone.
Ticket, concession, and hobby craft sales for the next two years broke all records, prompting the administration to build another arena.  Construction began on the new stadium in April 2000 and increased capacity to 7,500.  The new stadium was completed for the first rodeo in 2000.
What began 40 years ago as a "fun" thing by a handful of rodeo-loving inmates and employees is now big business.  Proceeds from the Angola Prison Rodeo cover rodeo expenses and supplement the Louisiana State Penitentiary Inmate Welfare Fund which provides for inmate educational and recreational supplies.

A few of my girlfriends, SIL, and the kids went to the rodeo.
I have never been so this was a first for me. We left early that morning so we could get there in plenty of time to try all of the food and look at all the hobby craft areas.

We made it
Its a 20 mile road. There is only one way in and one way out

They had Fried Coke
I have never heard or tried fried coke so I knew I had to give it a try.
As a Dr. Pepper-aholic I do love coca cola products

The Hobby Craft area: there was so much so look at
This is a prisoner doing his artwork

The kids rode the ferris wheel

Mauri found her a rocking chair just her sized she wanted to buy

We gathered in the arena ready to watch the rodeo.
It was packed in there and I do believe almost every seat was taken.

Maci and I ready to watch the rodeo

The kids found them a spot and they stayed there almost the whole time

Grand Entry
Angola Rough Riders enter the arena at full gallop and colors are presented.

Bust Out

All six chutes open simultaneously, releasing six angry bulls, with temporarily attached inmate cowboys.  The last man to remain on the bull wins the event.

Bareback Riding

Riders are expected to keep one hand in the air, and must stay on the horse for eight seconds to qualify.

Wild Horse Race

Six wild horses are simultaneously released into the arena with short ropes dragging behind them.  Three-man teams attempt to grab the ropes and hold the horse long enough for a team member to mount.  The first team to cross the finish line while still on top of the horse is the winner.

Barrel Racing

This is the only event in which inmates do not participate.  It is a tour stop for The Girl's Rodeo Association.  Contestants race their horse in a pattern between three carefully placed barrels.  The fastest time wins.

Bull-Dogging

The animal is placed in a chute, with two cowboys positioned just outside the chute.  Their job is to wrestle the animal to the ground as quickly as possible.  The team with the best time earns points toward the coveted "All-around Cowboy" award.

Buddy Pick-Up

This event requires one man on a horse (riding bareback) to navigate the length of the arena, pick up another inmate who is standing on a barrel, and race back to the finish line.

Wild Cow Milking

Teams of inmate cowboys chase the animals around the arena trying to extract a little milk.  The first team to bring milk to the judge wins the prize.

Bull Riding

This dangerous and wide open event is what the fans come to see.  Inexperienced inmates sit on top of a 2,000 pound Brahma bull.  To be eligible for the coveted "All-Around Cowboy" title, a contestant must successfully complete the ride (6 seconds).  The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association rules govern this event.

Convict Poker

It's the ultimate poker game, and even winning has a price.  Four inmate cowboys sit at a table in the middle of the arena playing a friendly game of poker.  Suddenly, a wild bull is released with the sole purpose of unseating the poker players.  The last man remaining seated is the winner.

Guts & Glory

A chit (poker chip) is tied to the meanest, toughest Brahma bull available.  The object here is to get close enough to the bull in order to snatch the chit.  This is the last event of the day, and perhaps the most exciting.

We had the best time and made fun memories. I cant wait to go back again in October and hopefully Nick will be out of the field and can make it too.
